In Civil3D component students are introduced to the fundamentals of Survey data and Civil Road drawings. Topics covered in AutoCAD 3D component include intermediate CAD operations, editing drawings, constructing multi-view drawings, applying text, font, style commands, dimensioning, hatching, blocks, constructing 3D objects and modifying solid objects. The course is divided into two components: AutoCAD 3D and Civil3D. This course presents topics in Autodesk applications that are important to for the success of drafting professionals.

Students will be introduced to tables and reference information found in the Steel Construction Manual and Detailing for Steel Construction as well as Standard Specification Load Tables for Steel Joists and Joist Girders published by the Steel Joist Institute. The course will also present an overview of basic structural steel design calculations through the examples of typical design calculations which will demonstrate the type of routine technical mathematic the entry-level structural drafter and designer can expect to encounter on the job.
